They say there's no smoke without fire and Reynolds American Inc. (RAI), the #2 US cigarette manufacturer, is giving off plenty of heat. Reynolds American owns cigarette manufacturer RJR Tobacco, which produces many of the top-selling cigarette brands – Camel, Doral, Eclipse, Pall Mall and Newport – and smokeless tobacco maker American Snuff. American Snuff offers moist snuff under the value-priced Grizzly and premium Kodiak brands. Vuse, the company's e-cigarette brand, is the market leader. Other businesses include Santa Fe Natural Tobacco and Lorillard, the former #3 cigarette company in the US which it bought for $27 billion in 2015. Reynolds American is 42% owned by British American Tobacco; in late 2016, British American Tobacco agreed to acquire the remaining shares for $47 billion.
